My name is Dan Beatty and I, like you, was searching for an answer to a difficult problem, trying to stay fit and healthy in a busy lifestyle. It is difficult to find time to workout with a job, two kids, and a wife that works, not to mention friends, family, and life in general, taking all my free time away. How about you?
I was also unable to maintain a consistently healthy diet as I was travelling a lot for my job everyday. Fast food is a real killer. I would do the best that I could, exercise when I could, eat healthy when I could, but time would never be on my side.It was never consistent and I had plenty of physical and pyschological stresses, which all in all, leads to physical and mental problems. Well I found an answer and it is as simple as breathing. In fact it is breathing - breathing exercises.
Imagine this, before when I woke up in the morning I felt tired like I hadn’t slept. I had a good bed but the stress of everyday life was wearing on me. It was beginning to affect my health. I have always been thin, it is a genetic gift, but one day when I looked in the mirror I saw what seemed to be fat rolls hanging over the sides of my pants - love handles! I took a closer look at a side profile and sure enough I was starting to even form a pouch of fat. I just had to find time to exercise, but I couldn’t afford a gym and I didn’t have time to go to one even if I could afford it. I started a search for exercises that I could do to help me with my situation.
I needed something that used no equipment and that I could do anywhere. It also needed to be very time efficient because I could barely do 15 minutes of exercise let alone 1/2 hour to an hour, I just didn’t have the time or energy. In my research I have seen some of the best programs out there and some of them are on this page - Chi Gung, Yoga, and Pilates. I would start the programs and then get out of the habit because of travelling or family issues or some other problem. However I found something useful in all my research; what I discovered was a very common theme to all of them -controlled rhythmic breathing.

Look at every exercise philosphy, yoga, pilates, chi gung, even weight lifting, all discuss how to control your breathing while exercising. I knew there must be something more to this so I researched some more. I have read the research done on breathing and exercise, but I am not going to bore you with the details, I’ll just let you in on the basics of the studies findings.
Breathing exercises can increase your lung capacity, allowing you to breathe deeper and smoother. This deeper and smoother breathing increases your oxygen utilization and efficiency at the cellular level. A cell with a good supply of oxygen has a much better chance of fighting off disease, utilizing energy more efficiently, and living longer.
When your cells are healthy and living longer, you are healthier and live longer. Because of this increase in oxygen efficiency your cells metabolize at a faster rate which in turn can increase your overall metabolic rate. So you can even lose weight, just from breathing exercises alone!
Your cells will have more available oxygen, in effect energizing them, which in turn energizes you. After rest, you feel rested not drained. Daily stresses are minimal in comparison to the energetic feeling you obtain from breathing correctly. All this in only a few minutes a day, anytime, anywhere!
