It has constantly been said and reiterated that music can soothe even the savage beast. This so called myth is not without merit because a beast can mean any number of things but the general reference to it is a cold man on a bloody road. With music, song and sound this man can be transformed into a peaceful, gentle and caring man filled with compassion and love. This is what music, more specifically sound, can do to us human beings.
It has widely been researched and known that each and every part and organ of our body is believed to react to a specific vibration which can either lead to its healing or to its damage. This would most likely depend on the sound as to which the organ is struck with. Since sound will also connote vibration, sound is the principal medium of the action. The different sounds that we here in our day to day lives can mean a different stimulus for each individual. Some may find the waves crashing on the sea shore a relaxing note which leaves them lying on their beds very relaxed. Some may think that the wind howling and blowing through the trees or the bamboos are peaceful melody which leaves them tranquil and in a trance. And even others might think that the constant drumming and pounding of the rain drops towards the earth makes them feel humbled because they realize that there is a higher power that is working to make these things happen. The point is that sounds can be used for the betterment of the person .One of the most common examples how sound can promote healing and development is through letting a pregnant mother listen to mellow and classic music which, research have proven can increase the fetus’ brain function by 30% than normal.
The potential of using sound for healing and relaxation is practically limitless because there are millions of sounds that are yet to be heard and with each tone and vibration, may result to a happier person in the end.
