Buteyko breathing method for help with Hayfever

Jamesina Goulbourne a writer for the American Chronicle has a great article on using the Buteyko method of breathing to help with hayfever and other ailments check it out here – www.americanchronicle.com/articles/viewArticle.asp?articleID=25790

Butekyo was developed by a Russian doctor, K.P. Butekyo. His research shows that instead of the oxygen being the most important aspect of breathing it is the oxygen/carbon doioxide ratio that is the most important. He states that most people suffer not from lack of oxygen but rather lack of carbon dioxide (CO2) that causes the problem with health. Poor breathing and bad breathing habits cause this lack of CO2 and messes with the ratio.

If you notice in my breathing exercises that I give away for free – Free Breathing Exercises I have you focus on the pauses in the breathing pattern as well as the breathing itself. This is where the true benefit of breathing exercises is…it is in the pause.

Here is another test to see how healthy your respiratory system and your CO2 to Oxygen ratio is… It is called the Controlled Pause Breathing Test…

Inhale for two seconds
Exhale for three seconds.
Pause and hold your breath, until it becomes difficult.
Less than 10 seconds on the pause you have very serious health problems. Less than 25 seconds your health requires attention, 30-40 seconds is OK, and 60 and above is excellent.
